We should not give up the name Seventh Day Adventist

I agree the GC Adventist church is fallen. However to give up the name "Seventh Day Adventist" is like giving up the name "Jew" or "Christian" or "reformer" or "Abrahams seed" or "Israel".

"You think, that those who worship before the saint’s feet, (Rev 3:9), will at last be saved. Here I must differ with you; for God shewed me that this class were professed Adventists, who had fallen away, and “crucified to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put Him to an open shame.” And in the “hour of temptation,” which is yet to come, to show out every one’s true character, they will know that they are forever lost; and overwhelmed with anguish of spirit, they will bow at the saint’s feet.” (EGW A Word to the Little Flock, page 12)

When you read that quote. You see that there are "professed Adventists" in the time of trouble. They are known as Laodiceans. But if you look above it says they are "Jews[Adventists] who say they are Jews[Adventists] but are not.

What that implies is that the 144,000 of Philadelphia are true Adventists. Is this is a name we are to give up? Clearly we are Adventists still in the time of trouble. Notice we are NEVER to be ashamed of this name. And this name is to borne through to the close of probation.

"Our institutions have taken a name which sets forth the character of our faith, and of this name we are NEVER to be ashamed. I have been shown that this name means much, and in adopting it we have followed the light given us from heaven...This distinctive banner is to be borne through the world to the CLOSE OF PROBATION." MS 15, 1896

There are many quotes which use the words "nominal Adventists" near to and in the time of trouble from SOP. That implies that there are true Adventists and this name is not to be given up.

You should be saying "he is not an Adventist which is one in the flesh, but he is an Adventist which is one in the spirit and heart" or perhaps "Hath God cast away his people? God forbid, for I am an Adventist". Or maybe "God can raise rocks to be Seventh Day Adventists". This name has meaning. We are the true Seventh Day Adventists while they have become "nominal Adventists" "Adventists who have not walked in the light" or "professed Adventists" "Offshoot Adventists" etc. To give up this name is like Paul giving up the name Jew, or Israel, or Abrahams seed. It's like us giving up the name Christian, or Reformer. We are the true Seventh Day Adventists brother. Don't give up the name. There is lots of support in SOP which shows the 144,000 are Seventh Day Adventists. Yours in Christ, David.
