I also keep 1 years food "Just in case" Im very much into survival and the country is the only place for me. Obviously, Ellen White did not expect people to just squat on public property... She encouraged people to work towards obtaining a land in the country instead of obtaining larger houses in the city, as most people do. If you can not afford to buy a house in the country now, and if you want to, pray about it and I am sure that the Lord lead you as to what you should do, and that He will allow doors to open and close in relation to this issue. The problem is, we have bad credit and cannot afford to move. We cannot buy any property. Did Ellen White expect us to simply squat on public land in the mountains? If so, what kind of shelter would we have? It's illegal to cut down timber on public land for a house without a permit, isn't it? Luckily, my husband and I are not so attached to jobs that we couldn't pick up and move if we had to, and my husband has more skills living off the land than working a worldly job anyway, but I'm kind of stressed out about when we should move into the mountains, and wouldn't we get caught by the government out there? Also since dedicating myself to Jesus Christ & Sabbath observance properly,I have started to feel uncomfortable living so close to sin & feel called out to live in isolation away from people? Perhaps if I was Spiritually stronger,I would not seek to avoid contamination by proximity? Is it divine inspiration or am I mad? Recently, I saw a David Gates video "The Converging Crises" . In short we should be living a sacrificial life and pray for guidance to know when we should start to unload our property. We should be living as if it is the end. Look at what happend in New Orleans. Gates states that this was just a test by _____, well you know who. He said if another katrina happens we'll only have 2 hours to get out of the city. After that no one comes in and no one goes out. FEMA has millions of body bags ready in my country. I hope that I can get out of the city. I'm not being an alarmest. If the Lord is not coming in my time, I want to get things ready for my children.
