Who is Christ?And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. John 6: 69
Is "the son of living God" a mere title given to Christ or is He in reality the very son of the one God?
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given. Isaiah 9: 6
Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what [is] his name, and what [is] his son's name, if thou canst tell? Proverbs 30: 4
If Christ is a real son of God, has the Bible confirmed a beginning to His existence?
But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, [though] thou be little among the thousands of Judah, [yet] out of thee shall he come forth unto me [that is] to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth [have been] from of old, from days of eternity. Micah 5: 2 marginal reading
And the Son of God declares concerning Himself: "The Lord possessed Me in the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I was set up from everlasting. . . . When He appointed the foundations of the earth: then I was by Him, as one brought up with Him: and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him." Proverbs 8:22-30. PP 34.1
Does the New Testament confirm the Old Testament regarding the true and literal sonship of Christ?
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1: 14
No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared [him]. John 1: 18 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3: 16
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3: 18 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 1 John 4: 9
Conclusion: The One God at one point from everlasting begat Christ, His only begotten son. And if what God gave was not His real and only begotten, then Abrahams test would not have been a meaningful type.
