Chapter 36
What prompted God to give His Son to die for man? What did the prophet say Christ would be called to endure? Must not Christ have known beforehand of these things? How did the Saviour feel when the sins of the world were upon Him? In His distress, for what did He pray? How great was the agony of His soul? After this remarkable prayer, what happened to cause Him more grief? To what place was He taken? While at the high priest's house, what act of Peter's caused the Saviour additional suffering? What reproachful things were done to Christ while He was at the high priest's house? Where was Christ next taken? What was their object in taking Him there, since it was not in their power judicially to sentence Him? Having procured the pretext they sought, what did they next do? When Pilate desired to let Christ go, how did they remonstrate? When Pilate heard that Christ had been in Galilee, what did he do? Did the chief priests and scribes follow Christ before Herod? What indignity did Herod put upon the Saviour? When Christ was again brought before Pilate, what did Pilate propose to do? At this proposition, how did Christ's accusers act? Besides yielding to the clamors of the Jews, what cruelty did Pilate inflict upon Christ? What shameful treatment did He receive from the soldiers? After bringing Him to the place of crucifixion, what did they offer Him to stupefy Him? What prayer did He utter as they were nailing Him to the cross? With what words did they taunt Him while on the cross? As He cried out in agony on the cross, what was again offered Him? What closed this terrible scene? What wonderful demonstration attested nature's sympathy with the dying Son of God? Was it necessary for Christ thus to suffer? What follows from the fact that God gave us His only Son? |

"AND BEING IN AGONY, HE PRAYED MORE EARNESTLY;AND HIS SWEAT WAS,AS IT WERE, GREAT DROPS OF BLOOD FALLING DOWN TO GROUND,"
Luke 5;44
WHAT CAN BE EXPECTED FROM SUCH HEART-FELT PRAYER AND IMPORTUING? ONE OF THE FOUR BROTHERS OF JESUS REMINDS US THAT ;
"THE EFFECTUAL FERVENT PRAYER OF A RIGHTEOUS MAN AVAILETH MUCH." [JAMES 5;16]
SUCH HEARTFELT PRAYER ! A CYNIC REMARKED THAT IT WOULD EVEN BRING GOD DOWN FROM HIS THRONE.
PAUL CONFIRMS THAT HIS SUPLICATIONS DID NOT FALL ON DEAF EARS;
"WHO,IN THE DAYS OF HIS FLEESH, WHEN HE HAD OFFERED UP PRAYERS AND SUPPLICATIONS WITH STRONG CRYING AND TEARS UNTO HIM THAT WAS ABLE TO SAVE HIM FROM DEATH, AND WAS HEARD IN THAT HE FEARED." HEBREWS 5;7
WHAT DOES IT MEAN "GOD HEARD" HIS PRAYERS! IT MEANS THAT GOD ACCEPTED HIS PRAYERS. GOD ALMIGHTY IS NOT DEAF AT ANY TIME .HE IS ALL-HEARING GOD.HE HEARD[ACCEPTED] THE SUPLICATION OF JESUS IN THE SAME WAY THAT HE HAD HEARD[ACCEPTED] THE PRAYER OF FATHER ABRAHAM IN HIS OLD -AGE HAD PRAYED FOR A SON, AND ISHMAEL WAS BORN.THE WORDS OF ABRAHAM HAD BECOME FLESH. ISHMAEL LITERRALLY MEANS GOD HEARD,IN HEBREW.ZAKARIAH ALSO IN HIS OLD-AGE PRAYED FOR A SON,AND GOD HEARD[ACCEPTED] HIS PRAYERS,AND JOHN THE BAPTIST WAS BORN. NOW JESUS CRIED FOR HELP,AND GOD HEARD[ACCEPTED] HIS PRAYERS;
"AND THERE APPEARED AN ANGEL UNTO HIM FROM HEAVEN,STRENTHENING HIM"
STRENGTHENING HIM IN THE FAITHMIN THE HOPE THAT GOD WILL SAVE HIM. THIS IS ACCTUALLY WHAT HE WAS BESEECHING GOD TO DO FOR HIM.WHEN AND HOW RESTS ALONE IN THE HANDS OF GOD.HIS WAYS ARE NOT OUR WAYS.COUNT THE BLESSINGS SO FAR;
a]AN ASSURANCE FROM HEAVEN.
B]PILATE FIND HIM,NOT GUILTY!
C]HIS WIFE SHOWN A DREAM IN WHICH SHE IS TOLD THAT NO HARM SHOULD COME TO JESUS.
D]LEGS NOT BROKEN!
E]IN A HURRY TO BRING HIM DOWN FROM THE CROSS.
WHAT USE-"THE BONES".....
THE FORTH ABOVE;"AND THEY BRAKE NOT HIS LEGS",WE ARE TOLD WAS IN FULFILMENT OF PROPHESY;[Psalm34;20]
'HE KEEPETH ALL HIS BONES,NOT ONE OF THEM IS BROKEN"
IF THE BONES OF A VICTIM WERE TO BE PROTECTED FROM HARM,THEN THEY COULD ONLY BE BENEFIT IF THE PERSON WAS ALIVE!FOR A PERSON,AIREADY DEAD,INTACT BONES MEAN NOTHING.WHETHER THEY ARE SAWED INTO PIECES,OR SMASHED INTO SMITHEREENS,IT WILL NOT MAKE ANY DIFFERRANCE TO THE RESURRECTED BODY,THE SPIRIT OR THE GHOST,BUT FOR LIVING PERSONS ON THE CROSS[LIKE THE "CROSSMATES"OF JESUS],THE BREAKING OF LEGS MADE ALL THE DEFFERENCE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH. THE PAGAN ROMANS WERE NOT HELL-BOUND TO FULFIL ANY PROPHECY,THEIR REASON WAS THAT THEY "SAW THAT HE WAS DEAD ALREADY,THEY BRAKE NOT HIS LEGS"---[JOHN 19;33
