I am not sure where to find the verse I speak of, but when the subject of fasting in private is addressed, does this apply specifically in the time of the Sabbath. I appreciate all the points made above about not involving ourselves in making plans, business etc on this day but would it not amplify our own personal experience with our Father by also resting our physical systems and in fact clean ourselves at the same time?

Question: Of what is the Sabbath a sign?

And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God. Ezekiel 20:20

Answer: It is a sign of the true God. When people observe the true Sabbath, it serves as a sign that they are worshipers of the Creator, the true and living God. It is also a sign to the world that they are His people.

Question: What kind of a day is the seventh-day Sabbath?

If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day. Isaiah 58:13.

Answer: It is a holy day, to be kept sacred.

NOTE: God has given men six days wherein to labor, and He requires that their own work be done in the six working days. Acts of necessity and mercy are permitted on the Sabbath, the sick and suffering are at all times to be cared for; but unnecessary labor is to be strictly avoided. 'Turn away thy foot from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on My holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honorable; and . . . honor Him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure.' Isaiah 58:13. Nor does the prohibition end here. 'Nor speaking thine own words,' says the prophet. Those who discuss business matters or lay plans on the Sabbath are regarded by God as though engaged in the actual transaction of business. To keep the Sabbath holy, we should not even allow our minds to dwell upon things of a worldly character. And the commandment includes all within our gates. The inmates of the house are to lay aside their worldly business during the sacred hours. All should unite to honor God by willing service upon His holy day. Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 307.

10. How did God make the Sabbath?
Answer: After spending six days creating the earth and man, He rested on the seventh. Thus, it became God's rest day. After resting, He blessed the seventh day (for all future time), and this day became God's blessed rest day. Then He sanctified it (set it apart for a holy and religious use by man), thus it was ordained as His blessed and sanctified rest day. See Genesis 2:1-3

The Sabbath is not introduced as a new institution but as having been founded at creation. Twenty-five hundred years later at the Exodus from Egypt it was reintroduced to the Israelites. The true Sabbath of creation is being reintroduced to us today to prepare It is to be remembered and observed as the memorial of the Creator's work. Pointing to God as the Maker of the heavens and the earth, it distinguishes the true God from all false gods. All who keep the seventh day signify by this act that they are worshipers of Jehovah. Thus the Sabbath is the sign of man's allegiance to God as long as there are any upon the earth to serve Him. The fourth commandment is the only one of all the ten in which are found both the name and the title of the Lawgiver. It is the only one that shows by whose authority the law is given. Thus it contains the seal of God, affixed to His law as evidence of its authenticity and binding force. Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 307.

Creator now chooses to restore all to those who will listen to HIS voice -
All the flocks of many different shepherds were for security and protection kept together in one large fold - like 'Christendom' today.

Could it be that our Creator has led you to WLC for the specific purpose of becoming a 'NIT PICKER' just like HE IS concerning His SABBATH DAY which among many other things, HE SPECIALLY BLESSED, SANCTIFIED, SET APART, MADE HOLY, as His SELF IDENTIFYING, SIGNATURE of AUTHORITY and OWNERSHIP as our CREATOR, REDEEMER, WHO alone sanctifies us,? Does the above very limited description of His beloved, treasured Sabbath, begin to make any impression on your mind? Study some more about His Sabbath and listen to Him more closely and you will find His special BLESSING hidden in His Sabbath.
Your statement - (Jesus followed and obeyed the commandments but Jesus was against religiosity, and in fact spoke against it).
Question - Did He go into the Synagogues or the Temple EVERY Sabbath DAY - (which was His CUSTOM)? Luke 4:16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his CUSTOM was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. Is that CUSTOM what you identify as 'RELIGIOSITY'?
He gave us His personal examples for us to follow in obedience. He says, 'FOLLOW ME'!
Listen when He speaks and you will hear Him say - 'IF' you love ME, keep MY commandments' -- Is the 4th commandment one of HIS?

Special NOTE - We do not keep His commands TO BE saved (RELIGIOSITY) rather BECAUSE we ARE saved. Our LOVE results in OBEDIENCE -

John 14:1
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

I was wondering: what's EGW's comment on this (rather big) issue?

am very happy to recive this information which is lmportant to us ,too i so thanks the wlc for the effort the have teach us

Remember Jesus healed on the Sabbath and was criticized for it, by the Romans and Jewish Authorities but Jesus' comment should put an end to which is the true Sabbath day since Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. Remember to keep Holy the Sabbath Day was for a time alone with God, not the way the Religious think, but God and man. A personal relationship will end what day, but rather that there is in fact at least one day of rest before God, with God, through Jesus Christ. Nit picking....if this was important to God, it would have survived just as the scriptures did. I do not judge but I having a personal relationship with God, and having heard his audible voice since I was 14, I can say that when one has a personal relationship with HIM, then every day is a Sabbath day. Jesus followed and obeyed the commandments but Jesus was against religiosity, and in fact spoke against it. A specific day (Saturday or Sunday) is not the issue but saving one day for God and man to fellowship together.

hi wlc team thanks for your reply to my comments,i believe in the 10 commandments and that we obey them because we love jesus Christ....what i see from scripture is that Jesus didnt do the sabbath like the religious people of the day who thought they were obeying to the letter of the law,infact so much that the religious people of the day wanted Jesus dead,Jesus said the sabbath was made for man not man for the sabbath and so he picked wheat,he healed the sick,he cast out demons on the sabbath.on top of that Jesus said this my commandment that you love one another,if you love me obey my commandments,Jesus also said to the rich young ruler after the fact that he had obeyed all of the 10 commandments now go and sell all you own and follow me! and Jesus also said that the commandments of love the Lord your God with all your heart all your soul and all your strength and love your neighbour as yourself were the two commandments that all the law and the prophets were built on! i guess what im saying is i obey the commandments it just doesnt look the same as you! and i also know plenty of people who live by those commandments who wouldnt have a clue who jesus really is and have know love for eachother..Jesus said this is how you will know that theyare my disciples!by the way they love one another which is why i appreciatte your stand but disagree!just like i say my brothers and sisters who say we cant use the name of Jesus but must use yahshua or else we will not enter the kingdom i humbly say to you stand in your convictions andd i will in mine living by the grace of God and faith in the son of God Jesus Christ who by His blood and great sacrifice has set me free from the law of sin and death and given me eternal life.not by my works lest i shoild boast but by grace alone that i would know it is a free gift of grace.
