The work of preaching the gospel has not been committed to angels, but has been entrusted to men. Holy angels have been employed in directing this work, they have in charge the great movements for the salvation of men; but the actual proclamation of the gospel is performed by the servants of Yahushua upon the earth.

Faithful men, who were obedient to the promptings of [Yahuwah's] Spirit and the teachings of His word, were to proclaim this warning to the world.” The Great Controversy, page 312.

For The Hour Of His Judgment Is Come

1. What is the work that Yahushua has committed to the ekklesia?

The reason why we use Ekklesia and not church when referring to Yahuwah's faithful in WLC content is because the word "church" does not accurately convey the meaning of the original Greek, "Ekklesia." Throughout the New Testament, Ekklesia refers to the Called Out Ones. The word "church," which emphasizes a group, is therefore an erroneous translation and should never have been used. Christians are literally the Called Out Ones. The true followers of Yahushua are indeed the Called Out Ones from the organized denominations and religions of fallen Babylon. When the call to flee Babylon has been heard, none are to again return to Babylonian churches and forms of religion.

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15.

NOTE: "Before the coming of the Son of man, the everlasting gospel is to be preached ‘to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people.’ Revelation 14:6, 14. Yahuwah ‘hath appointed a day, in the which He will judge the world.’ Acts 17:31. [Yahushua] tells us when that day shall be ushered in. He does not say that all the world will be converted, but that ‘this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.’ By giving the gospel to the world it is in our power to hasten our [Master's] return. We are not only to look for but to hasten the coming of the day of Yahuwah. 2 Peter 3:12, margin. Had the [ekklesia of Yahushua] done her appointed work as [Yahuwah] ordained, the whole world would before this have been warned, and [the Master Yahushua] would have come to our earth in power and great glory." The Desire of Ages, pages 633, 634.

2. How does Paul define the gospel?

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of the Anointed: for it is the power of Yahuwah unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” Romans 1:16.

Answer: The power of Yahuwah unto salvation to everyone that believe.

"Yahuwah so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16. He who repents of his sin and accepts the gift of the life of the Son of [Yahuwah], cannot be overcome. Laying hold by faith of the divine nature, he becomes a child of [Yahuwah]. He prays, he believes. When tempted and tried, he claims the power that [Yahushua] died to give, and overcomes through His grace. This every sinner needs to understand. He must repent of his sin, he must believe in the power of [Yahushua], and accept that power to save and to keep him from sin." Selected Messages Book 1, page 224.

3. As the final generation of Yahuwah’s people proclaims the Gospel, what warning must they also give?

And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear Yahuwah, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” Revelation 14:6, 7.

NOTE: “The fact that an angel is said to be the herald of this warning is significant. By the purity, the glory, and the power of the heavenly messenger, divine wisdom has been pleased to represent the exalted character of the work to be accomplished by the message and the power and glory that were to attend it. And the angel's flight in the midst of heaven, the loud voice with which the warning is uttered, and its promulgation to all that dwell on the earth,--to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,--give evidence of the rapidity and world-wide extent of the movement.

"The message itself sheds light as to the time when this movement is to take place. It is declared to be a part of the everlasting gospel; and it announces the opening of the judgment. The message of salvation has been preached in all ages; but this message is a part of the gospel which could be proclaimed only in the last days, for only then would it be true that the hour of judgment had come.” The Great Controversy, page 355.

4. In view of the fact that the time has now come for Yahuwah’s judgment, what three things are all men called to do?

Saying with a loud voice, Fear Yahuwah, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” Revelation 14:7.

  1. To fear Yahuwah

  2. To give glory to Him

  3. To worship Him that made heaven and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

NOTE: “The first angel's message of Revelation 14, announcing the hour of [Yahuwah's] judgment and calling upon men to fear and worship Him, was designed to separate the professed people of [Yahuwah] from the corrupting influences of the world and to arouse them to see their true condition of worldliness and backsliding. In this message, [Yahuwah] has sent to the [ekklesia] a warning, which, had it been accepted, would have corrected the evils that were shutting them away from Him. Had they received the message from heaven, humbling their hearts before [Yahuwah] and seeking in sincerity a preparation to stand in His presence, the Spirit and power of [Yahuwah] would have been manifested among them. The [ekklesia] would again have reached that blessed state of unity, faith, and love which existed in apostolic days, when the believers 'were of one heart and of one soul,' and 'spake the word of [Yahuwah] with boldness,' when '[Yahuwah] added to the [ekklesia] daily such as should be saved.' Acts 4:32, 3; 2:47.” The Great Controversy, page 379.

5. What does it mean to 'fear Yahuwah'?

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear Elohim, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For Elohim shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14. See also Psalm 34:11–14; Psalm 111:10; Proverbs 8:13.

Answer: To fear Yahuwah does not mean to be afraid of Him as someone would be afraid of an enemy who is seeking to harm them. In fact, those who “fear Yahuwah, trust in Yahuwah” (Psalm 115:11) and love Him. “What doth Yahuwah thy Eloah require of thee, but to fear Yahuwah thy Eloah, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve Yahuwah thy Eloah with all thy heart and with all thy soul.” Deuteronomy 10:12.

When we “fear” Yahuwah as He wishes us to, we will respect, reverence, love, and trust Him with all our heart. Fearing Yahuwah means to respect Him for who He is, and be in awe of Him, realizing His greatness, power, and position. When we contemplate how great Yahuwah is and realize that He tenderly loves us as a father pities his children, then we will love Him in return. This righteous fear causes us to hate sin and turn from it. Solomon explained it in this way: “The fear of Yahuwah is to hate evil.” Proverbs 8:13. “By the fear of Yahuwah men depart from evil.” Proverbs 16:6.

Fearing and loving Yahuwah will cause us to turn from our sins and keep Yahuwah’s commandments. Therefore, the first part of this angel’s message is calling us to love, honor, respect, and fear the true Eloah of heaven, which will cause us to turn from our evil ways.

NOTE: “By the first angel, men are called upon to 'fear [Yahuwah], and give glory to Him' and to worship Him as the Creator of the heavens and the earth. In order to do this, they must obey His law. . . Without obedience to His commandments no worship can be pleasing to [Yahuwah]. 'This is the love of [Yahuwah], that we keep His commandments.' 'He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.' 1 John 5:3; Proverbs 28:9.” The Great Controversy, page 436.

“[Yahushua’s] followers today should guard against the tendency to lose the spirit of reverence and . . . fear. The Scriptures teach men how they should approach their Maker—with humility and awe, through faith in a divine Mediator.” Prophets and Kings, page 48.

True reverence for [Yahuwah] is inspired by a sense of His infinite greatness and a realization of His presence. With this sense of the Unseen, every heart should be deeply impressed. The hour and place of prayer are sacred, because [Yahuwah] is there. And as reverence is manifested in attitude and demeanor, the feeling that inspires it will be deepened. ‘Holy and reverend is His name,’ the psalmist declares. Psalm 111:9. Angels, when they speak that name, veil their faces. With what reverence, then, should we, who are fallen and sinful, take it upon our lips!” Prophets and Kings, pages 48, 49.

When men cast off the fear of [Yahuwah] they are not long in departing from honor and integrity.” Patriarchs and Prophets, page 557.

6. What does it mean to give 'glory to Yahuwah'?

And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of Yahuwah before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.” “And Yahuwah passed by before him, and proclaimed, Yahuwah, Yahuwah El, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.” Exodus 33:18, 19; 34:6,7. Compare John 17:4 and Matthew 5:16.

Answer: To give glory to Yahuwah is to reveal His character in our own, and thus make Him known. And in whatever way we make known the Father or the Son, we glorify Yahuwah. Man was made to give glory to Yahuwah. Yahuwah said, “Every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.” (Isaiah 43:7) It is our highest privilege to give glory to Yahuwah. But how can we do this? Is it accomplished by singing praises to Yahuwah? That is part of it, but giving glory to Yahuwah includes much more.

Yahuwah has given us a clear revelation of His glory through the life of His Son, Yahushua, the Anointed. John wrote, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” John 1:14.

The glory of Yahuwah’s wonderful character of love was manifested in the life of Yahushua, the Anointed. When Yahushua reached out His hand to lift a leper to His feet and give him healing; when He touched the eyes of the blind to give them sight; when He saw the multitude and was “moved with compassion,” it was merely a reflection of what Yahuwah, the Father, would do if He were in the same situation. For Yahushua said, “The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.” John 14:10.

Paul wrote, “Yahuwah, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of Yahuwah in the face of Yahushua, the Anointed.” (2 Corinthians 4:6) Yahuwah has shined His light into our hearts for the purpose of giving us the knowledge of the goodness of Yahuwah, which is revealed in the life of Yahushua, the Anointed. Yahushua reflected Yahuwah’s character perfectly. Of all the people who lived upon this earth, Yahushua gave glory to Yahuwah more fully and perfectly than anyone else ever has. No wonder the Bible says that Yahushua is “the express image” of the Father. (Hebrews 1:3) He is our example. His life is the one after which we are to mold our lives.

Paul explained to us how we can give glory to Yahuwah when He wrote, “We all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of Yahuwah, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of Yahuwah.” 2 Corinthians 3:18. As we behold the goodness and love of Yahuwah, we will naturally begin to reflect that goodness in our own lives. John put it this way, “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us.” 1 John 3:1. The more we see the goodness and love of Yahuwah, the more we will love, praise, and give glory to Him. The only way we can truly give glory to Yahuwah is by first beholding His glory; His goodness and love.

Therefore, the second part of this message is calling us to behold Yahuwah’s character of love and reflect that character in our lives.

7. How does Yahuwah ask us to worship ‘Him that made heaven and earth’?

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of Yahuwah thy Eloah: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days Yahuwah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yahuwah blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.” Exodus 20:8–11.

Answer: The first angel finally comes to the climax of his message: worship. Notice the order in which this message goes forth. First we are called to fear, respect, and honor the true Eloah of heaven. Secondly, we are called to give glory to Him by beholding His goodness and love, which will produce a corresponding goodness and love in our own lives. Finally, we are called to worship the only true Eloah who made heaven and earth. If we do not fear the only true Eloah, and give Him glory, we cannot possibly worship Him correctly.

Notice how David said we are to worship: “Give unto Yahuwah the glory due unto his name; worship Yahuwah in the beauty of holiness.” Psalm 29:2. To worship Yahuwah correctly we must give Him the glory He deserves, and worship Him in “the beauty of holiness;” with a holy life representative of the holy Eloah we worship.

Yahuwah commanded us, “There shall no strange el be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange el.” Psalms 81:9. A stranger is someone we don’t know. If Yahuwah is a stranger to us, our worship is in vain.

NOTE: The importance of the Sabbath as the memorial of creation is that it keeps ever present the true reason why worship is due to [Yahuwah]--because He is the Creator, and we are His creatures. The Sabbath therefore lies at the very foundation of divine worship, for it teaches this great truth in the most impressive manner, and no other institution does this. The true ground of divine worship, not of that on the seventh day merely, but of all worship, is found in the distinction between the Creator and His creatures. This great fact can never become obsolete, and must never be forgotten.--J. N. Andrews, History of the Sabbath, chapter 27. It was to keep this truth ever before the minds of men, that Yahuwah instituted the Sabbath in Eden; and so long as the fact that He is our Creator continues to be a reason why we should worship Him, so long the Sabbath will continue as its sign and memorial.

"Had the Sabbath been universally kept, man's thoughts and affections would have been led to the Creator as the object of reverence and worship, and there would never have been an idolater, an atheist, or an infidel. The keeping of the Sabbath is a sign of loyalty to the true [Eloah], Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. It follows that the message which commands men to worship [Yahuwah] and keep His commandments will especially call upon them to keep the fourth commandment.” The Great Controversy, page 437.

Babylon is fallen, Is Fallen

8. What further message is the final generation of Yahuwah’s people called to give? Revelation 14:8.

And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”

NOTE: The term ‘Babylon’ is derived from ‘Babel,’ and signifies confusion. It is employed in Scripture to designate the various forms of false or apostate religion. In Revelation 17, Babylon is represented as a woman—a figure which is used in the Bible as the symbol of an ekklesia/church, a virtuous woman representing a pure ekklesia, a vile woman an apostate church. The Great Controversy, page 381.

The second angel's message of Revelation 14 was first preached in the summer of 1844, and it then had a more direct application to the churches of the United States, where the warning of the judgment had been most widely proclaimed and most generally rejected, and where the declension in the churches had been most rapid. But the message of the second angel did not reach its complete fulfillment in 1844. The churches then experienced a moral fall, in consequence of their refusal of the light of the advent message; but that fall was not complete. As they have continued to reject the special truths for this time they have fallen lower and lower. Not yet, however, can it be said that 'Babylon is fallen... because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.' She has not yet made all nations do this. The spirit of world conforming and indifference to the testing truths for our time exists and has been gaining ground in churches of the Protestant faith in all the countries of Christendom; and these churches are included in the solemn and terrible denunciation of the second angel.” Ibid., page 389.

9. What reason is given for Babylon’s fall?

Because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” Revelation 14:8, last part.

NOTE: The great sin charged against Babylon is that she ‘made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.’ This cup of intoxication which she presents to the world represents the false doctrines that she has accepted as the result of her unlawful connection with the great ones of the earth. The Great Controversy, page 388.

10. What call must be given to those of Yahuwah’s people who are still in Babylon?

And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and Yahuwah hath remembered her iniquities.” Revelation 18:1–5.

NOTE: "Revelation 18 points to the time when, as the result of rejecting the threefold warning of Revelation 14:6–12, the church will have fully reached the condition foretold by the second angel, and the people of [Yahuwah] still in Babylon will be called upon to separate from her communion. This message is the last that will ever be given to the world; and it will accomplish its work." The Great Controversy, page 390.

11. What will be the danger for those who choose to stay in Babylon?

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” Revelation 18:4.

NOTE: "Notwithstanding the widespread declension of faith and piety, there are true followers of [Yahushua] in these churches. Before the final visitation of [Yahuwah's] judgments upon the earth there will be among the people of [Yahuwah] such a revival of primitive [Yah-likeness] as has not been witnessed since apostolic times. The Spirit and power of [Yahuwah] will be poured out upon His children. At that time many will separate themselves from those churches in which the love of this world has supplanted love for [Yahuwah] and His word. Many, both of ministers and people, will gladly accept those great truths which [Yahuwah] has caused to be proclaimed at this time to prepare a people for [Yahushua's] second coming. The enemy of souls desires to hinder this work; and before the time for such a movement shall come, he will endeavor to prevent it by introducing a counterfeit. In those churches which he can bring under his deceptive power he will make it appear that [Yahuwah's] special blessing is poured out; there will be manifest what is thought to be great religious interest. Multitudes will exult that [Yahuwah] is working marvelously for them, when the work is that of another spirit. Under a religious guise, Satan will seek to extend his influence over the Christian world." The Great Controversy, page 464.

The Third Angel's Message

12. What is the essence of the third angel’s message?

“And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of Yahuwah, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb” Revelation 14:9, 10.

Answer: This symbol (the beast), as most Protestants have believed, represents the Papacy. The ‘image to the beast’ represents that form of apostate Protestantism which will be developed when the Protestant churches shall seek the aid of the civil power for the enforcement of their dogmas.

NOTE: “In contrast to those who keep the commandments of [Yahuwah] and have the faith of [Yahushua], the third angel points to another class, against whose errors a solemn and fearful warning is uttered: [Revelation 14:9, 10 quoted].” The Great Controversy, page 438.

13. The third angel’s message warns against three things, what are they?

“If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand.” Revelation 14:9.

A. The beast, which is the papacy.

B. The image of the beast, which is formed when the United States makes and enforces laws for the observance of Sunday.

C. The mark of the beast, which is received when, though Yahuwah’s requirements regarding His holy day (Sabbath) are known to all, Sunday is observed as the day of worship because it is commanded by the law of the land.

A Message of Warning

14. What is the issue involved?

“It is time for thee, Yahuwah, to work: for they have made void thy law.” Psalm 119:126.

Answer: the real issue is on the law of Yahuwah and the fourth commandment [Sabbath] to be precise.

NOTE: “But Christians of past generations observed the Sunday, supposing that in so doing they were keeping the Bible Sabbath; and there are now true Christians in every church, not excepting the Roman Catholic communion, who honestly believe that Sunday is the Sabbath of divine appointment. [Yahuwah] accepts their sincerity of purpose and their integrity before Him. But when Sunday observance shall be enforced by law, and the world shall be enlightened concerning the obligation of the true Sabbath, then whoever shall transgress the command of [Yahuwah], to obey a precept which has no higher authority than that of Rome, will thereby honor popery above [Yahuwah]. He is paying homage to Rome and to the power which enforces the institution ordained by Rome. He is worshipping the beast and his image. As men then reject the institution which [Yahuwah] has declared to be the sign of His authority, and honor in its stead that which Rome has chosen as the token of her supremacy, they will thereby accept the sign of allegiance to Rome--'the mark of the beast.' And it is not until the issue is thus plainly set before the people, and they are brought to choose between the commandments of [Yahuwah] and the commandments of men, that those who continue in transgression will receive the mark of the beast." The Great Controversy, page 449.

15. When human legislation shall conflict with the law of Yahuwah by demanding false worship, how will the world be divided?

“And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?. . . And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” Revelation 13:1–4, 8.

Answer: National Sunday Law. Christians will naturally strive to ensure that civil legislation respects their duty to keep Sunday holy.… Sunday must be sanctified. Pope John Paul II, Dies Domini, point 67, July 7, 1998.

NOTE: “In the issue of the contest all Christendom will be divided into two great classes—those who keep the commandments of [Yahuwah] and the faith of [Yahushua], and those who worship the beast and his image and receive his mark.” The Great Controversy, page 450.

“In comparison with the millions of the world, [Yahuwah’s] people will be, as they have ever been, a little flock; but if they stand for the truth as revealed in His word, [Yahuwah] will be their refuge.” The Acts of the Apostles, page 590.

Great Wonders

16. How will a religio-political power, symbolized by the second beast, flatter and imitate the first beast?

“And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. . . And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.” Revelation 13:11, 12, 14.

NOTE: “The lamblike horns and dragon voice of the symbol point to a striking contradiction between the professions and the practice of the nation thus represented. The ‘speaking’ of the nation is the action of its legislative and judicial authorities. By such action it will give the lie to those liberal and peaceful principles which it has put forth as the foundation of its policy. The prediction that it will speak ‘as a dragon’ and exercise ‘all the power of the first beast’ [Revelation 13:11, 12] plainly foretells a development of the spirit of intolerance and persecution that was manifested by the nations represented by the dragon and the leopardlike beast. And the statement that the beast with two horns ‘causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast’ [verse 12] indicates that the authority of this nation is to be exercised in enforcing some observance which shall be an act of homage to the papacy.” The Great Controversy, page 442.

17. What will Satan use to deceive the inhabitants of the earth? What specific truth must we understand in order to escape many of these delusions?

“And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men.” Revelation 13:13.

“For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6.

Answer: “Satan is currently using false miracles to deceive the inhabitants of the world. We must have a correct understanding of what the Scripture says about the state of the dead for us not to be deceived.

NOTE: “Fearful sights of a supernatural character will soon be revealed in the heavens, in token of the power of miracle-working demons. The spirits of devils will go forth to the kings of the earth and to the whole world, to fasten them in deception, and urge them on to unite with Satan in his last struggle against the government of heaven. By these agencies, rulers and subjects will be alike deceived. Persons will arise pretending to be [Yahushua] Himself, and claiming the title and worship which belong to the world's Redeemer. They will perform wonderful miracles of healing and will profess to have revelations from heaven contradicting the testimony of the Scriptures.

"As the crowning act in the great drama of deception, Satan himself will personate [Yahushua]. The [ekklesia] has long professed to look to the Saviour's advent as the consummation of her hopes. Now the great deceiver will make it appear that [Yahushua] has come. In different parts of the earth, Satan will manifest himself among men as a majestic being of dazzling brightness, resembling the description of the Son of [Yahuwah] given by John in the Revelation. Revelation 1:13-15. The glory that surrounds him is unsurpassed by anything that mortal eyes have yet beheld. The shout of triumph rings out upon the air: 'Christ has come! Christ has come!' The people prostrate themselves in adoration before him, while he lifts up his hands and pronounces a blessing upon them, as [Yahushua] blessed His disciples when He was upon the earth. His voice is soft and subdued, yet full of melody. In gentle, compassionate tones he presents some of the same gracious, heavenly truths which the Saviour uttered; he heals the diseases of the people, and then, in his assumed character of [Yahushua], he claims to have changed the Sabbath to Sunday, and commands all to hallow the day which he has blessed. He declares that those who persist in keeping holy the seventh day are blaspheming his name by refusing to listen to his angels sent to them with light and truth. This is the strong, almost overmastering delusion. Like the Samaritans who were deceived by Simon Magus, the multitudes, from the least to the greatest, give heed to these sorceries, saying: This is 'the great power of [Yahuwah].' Acts 8:10.” The Great Controversy, page 624.

“Satan will come in to deceive if possible the very elect. He claims to be [Yahushua], and he is coming in, pretending to be the great medical missionary. He will cause fire to come down from heaven in the sight of men to prove that he is [Yahuwah]. We must stand barricaded by the truths of the Bible.” The Review and Herald, April 14, 1903, par. 28.

No Man Might Buy Or Sell

18. What is the object of the second beast, in direct opposition to the law of Yahuwah? What is the mark of the beast?

“And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads” Revelation 13:16.

Answer: The sign, or seal, of Yahuwah is revealed in the observance of the seventh-day Sabbath, Yahuwah’s memorial of creation. [Exodus 31:12, 13 quoted.] Here the Sabbath is clearly designated as a sign between Yahuwah and His people.

The mark of the beast is the opposite of this—the observance of the first day of the week. This mark distinguishes those who acknowledge the supremacy of the papal authority from those who acknowledge the authority of Yahuwah.

NOTE: “As the sign of the authority of the Catholic Church, papist writers cite 'the very act of changing the Sabbath into Sunday, which Protestants allow of; . . . because by keeping Sunday, they acknowledge the church's power to ordain feasts, and to command them under sin.'--Henry Tuberville, An Abridgment of the Christian Doctrine, page 58. What then is the change of the Sabbath, but the sign, or mark, of the authority of the Roman Church--'the mark of the beast'?” The Great Controversy, page 438.

19. What sanctions will be imposed by the authorities on those who refuse to receive the mark of the beast?

“And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. . . . And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.” Revelation 13:17, 15.

NOTE: “The powers of earth, uniting to war against the commandments of [Yahuwah], will decree that ‘all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond’ (Revelation 13:16), shall conform to the customs of the church by the observance of the false sabbath. All who refuse compliance will be visited with civil penalties, and it will finally be declared that they are deserving of death.” The Great Controversy, page 604.

Seven Last Plagues

20. What punishment will Heaven send upon those who receive the mark of apostasy and accept the false worship imposed by the powers symbolized by the two beasts?

“The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of Yahuwah, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.” Revelation 14:10, 11.

Answer: The seven last plagues.

NOTE: “The most fearful threatening ever addressed to mortals is contained in the third angel’s message. That must be a terrible sin which calls down the wrath of [Yahuwah] unmingled with mercy. Men are not to be left in darkness concerning this important matter; the warning against this sin is to be given to the world before the visitation of [Yahuwah’s] judgments, that all may know why they are to be inflicted, and have opportunity to escape them.” The Great Controversy, page 449, 450.

21. While the servants of Yahuwah will be protected from the seven last plagues (Malachi 3:17), what will happen to the adherents of the false system of worship?

“And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of Yahuwah upon the earth. And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.” Revelation 16:1, 2.

NOTE: “When [Yahushua] ceases His intercession in the sanctuary, the unmingled wrath threatened against those who worship the beast and his image and receive his mark (Revelation 14:9, 10), will be poured out. The plagues upon Egypt when [Yahuwah] was about to deliver Israel were similar in character to those more terrible and extensive judgments which are to fall upon the world just before the final deliverance of [Yahuwah's] people. . . . These plagues are not universal, or the inhabitants of the earth would be wholly cut off. Yet they will be the most awful scourges that have ever been known to mortals. All the judgments upon men, prior to the close of probation, have been mingled with mercy. The pleading blood of [Yahushua] has shielded the sinner from receiving the full measure of his guilt; but in the final judgment, wrath is poured out unmixed with mercy. The Great Controversy, page 627, 628.
