"Armageddon" . . . The very word has come to mean A WAR TO END ALL WARS, total chaos, and destruction. Armageddon is much larger than a single battle, or even a seven-year nuclear world war at the end of time.
The word “Armageddon” comes from the Bible, so the Bible must tell us what it means. Scripture reveals that “Armageddon” embraces the entire cosmic conflict between the Creator and the arch-rebel, Lucifer. The word in Hebrew reveals that this war is fought on the battlefield of the mind; it is all over whom you worship.
"And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon." (Revelation 16:16)
Armageddon comes from two Hebrew words: har (H2022) mo'ed (H41501). Har simply means "mountain." In Scripture, mountains are symbols of governments or kingdoms. (See Daniel 2:34-35, 44-45.) Mo'ed (mo'edim) is used throughout Scripture to refer to the times appointed for the worshipping assemblies of the righteous. Thus, Armageddon, har mo’ed, means the Mountain of Times Appointed for Worship. --New Moon Day, Seventh-day Sabbath, Passover, Feast of Unleavened Bread, Wave Sheaf, Pentecost, Feast of Trumpets, Day of Atonement, Feast of Tabernacles
The Creator of Heaven and Earth cares when we worship. He designed a time-keeping system to mark days of worship. Yahuwah decreed:
"Let there be lights in the . . . heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons [mo'edim, time for worship], and for days, and years." (Genesis 1:14)
"He appointed the moon for seasons [mo'edim]." (Psalm 104:19)
Moses was told:
"Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts [mo'edim] of Yahuwah, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations [holy gatherings], even these are My feasts [mo’edim]. Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, a holy convocation . . . these are the feasts [mo'edim] of Yahuwah . . . ." (Leviticus 23:2-4)
The huge, millennia-long war between the Creator and Lucifer is all over who shall be worshipped. It began in heaven when Lucifer boasted he would steal the worship due to the Creator alone.
"How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: 'I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of El; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation [har mo'ed] On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.'" (Isaiah 14:12-14)
The final Battle of Armageddon, like the long-running War of Armageddon, is fought on the battlefield of worship. This conflict is much larger than any world war. It comes to every person living at the end of time. Lucifer wanted to steal the worship that belongs only to the Almighty, the Creator. Daniel 7:25 reveals how he has done this:
“He shall insult the Most High, he shall torment/wear out the holy ones of the Most High, and he shall attempt to change the calendar and the ordinance.” (Knox translation)
The luni-solar calendar established at Creation uses the sun for measuring days and years . . . and the moon for measuring months. Both the month and the weekly cycle restart with the first dawn after the conjunction of the moon. Then six work days follow New Moon day with a seventh-day Sabbath of rest at the end.
Lucifer has stolen the worship due the Creator by establishing a solar calendar with a continuous weekly cycle. The entire world has united in using the Gregorian solar calendar for determining worship, be it on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.
When you worship, determined by which calendar you use, reveals whether your worship is directed to the Creator or His enemy. The day on which you worship is your pledge of loyalty to One or the other.
This is the Battle of Armageddon, the final conflict in the war over worship. All the world will take sides in this conflict. All worship using the pagan solar calendar made by Lucifer's earthly representative, Pope Gregory XIII, directs that worship to Lucifer. All who truly desire to honor their Maker will use His calendar of lunar months beginning the year in the spring. This is the pledge of allegiance to the Creator: worship on His appointed day.

1 Some believe that the second part of the word Armageddon comes from H4023: Megiddo, which was a place in Palestine. The problem with this interpretation is that when one goes to where Megiddo was there is no mountain there! In fact, there is just a valley: “the Valley of Megiddo.” (See 2 Chronicles 35:22.)
