The Luni-solar advocates ignore the fact that the unbroken weekly cycle is attested in Judaism by archaeological finds as early as the seventh century before Christ.

Objection: The Luni-solar advocates ignore the fact that the unbroken weekly cycle is attested in Judaism by archaeological finds as early as the seventh century before Christ.

Rebuttal: It is true that within Judaism there were sects which worshipped by a different calendar.  One example is the Essences.  Using a different calendar, they had to live apart or they would have been stoned for Sabbath-breaking!  There are also contemporary writings showing that the Jews worshipped on Saturday.  However, such finds must always be viewed in the context of all of the facts.  Scripture does refer to the Jews worshipping on Saturday, but it is always in times of rebellion and apostasy.  In the same manner, any “proof” of the Jews using a calendar which had an unbroken weekly cycle would be due to rebellion and apostasy.  Proof of this sort merely supports the Biblical account of Yahuwah’s people frequently backsliding into apostasy – it does not prove that Saturday is the true Bible Sabbath.

Babylonian Jews adopted the pagan week very early on.  They did so because the True Sabbath of Yahuwah was taken from their memory in the 7th century B.C. at the time of the Babylonian captivity.  Lamentations 2:6. Thank you for proving our point.

We find it interesting that the nay-sayers who offered this argument do not give the chapter and verse from SCRIPTURE where the unbroken seven day weekly cycle is commanded.  They offer Judaism as their standard of reference.  We [at WLC] offer Scripture.
