Many people who are disillusioned with the
inconsistencies and contradictions found in other religions are drawn to New
Age beliefs. There, they seek a peaceful, holistic change to the
collective conscience of society. While the New Age Movement is not a single organization, it is made up
of a large collection of groups and individuals in Western culture who hold to
beliefs that have their roots in the Eastern Religions. Thus, many of the errors found in the other, more formalized Eastern
Religions, can also be found in the New Age Movement.
Following is a partial list of the errors to be
found in the New Age Movement:
- The New
Age Movement teaches pantheism: the belief that everything is God, therefore
God is everything. Such a belief denies
a personal Saviour and demotes the Creator to nothing more than a force.
The Creator warns of the
error of such belief: “Professing to be
wise, they became fools, and
changed the glory of the incorruptible [Yahuwah] into an
image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping
things.” (Romans 1:22-23)
No created entity is or ever can be “God.”
“You are My witnesses,” says Yahuwah, “. .
. that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He.
Before Me there was no God
formed, nor shall there be after Me.” (Isaiah 43:10)
- The New
Age Movement teaches that “God” somehow emanated itself into what is now the
universe. This contradicts Scripture
which clearly separates the Creator from His creation: “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on
earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or
powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.” (Colossians 1:16)
- Like most other
Eastern Religions, New Agers believe in reincarnation in direct contradiction of Scripture which
clearly states:
For the
living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have
they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Also their love,
and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a
portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6)
- All
belief in reincarnation is a form of salvation by works: i.e., a person’s own efforts in life determine the quality of their
next life. Yahuwah, however, declares
that men have only one death (and therefore only one life) before being judged.
- Probably
the most egregious error of the New Age Movement is moral relativity: nothing is truly good or evil, right or wrong, it
simply is. Occultist and New Ager, Benjamin Creme
goes so far as to state: "Of
course, yes, the forces of evil are part of God. They are not separate from
God. Everything is God. There is nothing else in fact but God. The forces of
evil on this planet receive their energy from the cosmic astral plane." (The Reappearance of the Christ and
Masters of Wisdom, p. 103.)
Scripture clearly states that Yahuwah is love and that can be seen in His actions toward sinners (implying a state of being that
is not what it should be.) Yahuwah can
never be the source of evil: “Let no one say
when he is tempted, ‘I am tempted by [Yahuwah]’; for [Yahuwah] cannot be
tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.” (James 1:13)
The Creator is now inviting the intellectually
honest who have embraced New Age to embrace the truths of Heaven that are the
only answer for peace and advancement.
