Question: Has the 2nd trumpet of Revelation 8:8-9 sounded in light of the increasing reports of mass death of sea creatures and waters turning to blood?
Answer: When we are focused on end time events, it is very easy to be anxious to hurry things along in our minds; however, we are called to patient, "watching." (Luke 21:36, 1 Peter 4:7, etc.)
Following the devastation caused by the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and the current subsequent effects of the Fukushima earthquake, it is indeed tempting to reason that we are witnessing the events of the 2nd Trumpet. However, Yahushua explained that these are ONLY the beginnings:
"For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows." (Mark 13:8)
We must be careful to patiently follow these events according to their given sequence in the book of Revelation, and note that we have not yet seen the effects of the 1st Trumpet which will include the burning up of one third of the trees and ALL green grass. While we may not be able to asses one third of the trees worldwide, we certainly cannot miss ALL of the green grass being burnt up everywhere at once. Note also that under the 2nd Trumpet, a third of the ships will be destroyed.
"And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake." (Revelation 8:5)
"The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up." (Revelation 8:7)
"And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed." (Revelation 8:8-9)
Until Yahuwah is pleased to reveal otherwise, we continue to hold that the Trumpets do not begin until AFTER the great worldwide earthquake (Revelation 8:5) which will leave no uncertainty in our minds as to where we are in His timeline of end time events.
