Weekly Survey
Many now describe themselves as “spiritual but not religious,” wrongly believing that religion is only about doctrine and dogma, while spirituality is about personal experience and emotion. The “spiritual” person seeks a direct encounter with the divine and rejects formal beliefs and doctrines. At its core, this flawed view assumes that following teachings and doctrines diminishes spirituality, depicting religion as lifeless and its followers as emotionally empty or insincere.
