Traditional Christian theology teaches that Jesus, as the Son, existed personally before creation. Verses like John 1:1, John 6:38, and John 8:58 are cited to support this, describing the incarnation as the eternal Son coming from heaven to become human. However, many scholars also recognize a second model: notional or ideal pre-existence. In this view, something “exists” because it is established in Yahuwah’s foreknowledge and purpose, even before appearing in history (Romans 4:17). Where do you stand?
