What our children need correction in is the same thing we do: our fallen, sinful nature—the “natural” man Paul describes. Sin comes naturally to all of us, including our children. Even young people who have given their hearts to Christ still struggle against that fallen nature. So instead of reacting in anger when children disappoint or embarrass us, or rushing to punishment at the first sign of disobedience, we should pause, take a breath, and thoughtfully evaluate the situation.
