When studying church history, it becomes clear that belief in a triune Godhead was not universally accepted but fiercely debated for centuries. Competing views fought for dominance, and eventually, the side that prevailed established the theological creeds and treatises that shaped orthodox belief. Over time, these writings came to define Christianity. So much time has passed that most people today are unaware that this doctrine was formally developed and enforced hundreds of years after Christ, not explicitly taught by Him or the apostles.
