With a little closer examination of Mark 10, we find that the Messiah wasn't just saying keep only the Ten Commandments. We notice that He deliberately puts in one of the other commandments done by the handwriting of Moses, namely, “do not defraud.” This inclusion is by no means ‘co-incidental’ as it is His response to the most important question on earth regarding salvation. “What must I do to inherit eternal life?”

The Ten Commandments should not be looked on as an exhaustive list to begin with. The Ten Commandments should be looked on as headings under which hundreds of other commandments follow. It is very important that we recognize this. Yahushua’s inclusion of ‘Do not defraud’ here teaches us it's not okay to ignore the rest of the law while focused on the verbatim Ten Commandments.

By this inclusion from the handwriting of Moses, outside of the Decalogue, Yahushua solidifies the conclusion in our study regarding ‘the handwriting’ which was ‘nailed to the cross’ in Colossians 2:14. In both the Old and New Testaments, our keeping of Torah is what connects us with the love of Yahuwah, Yahushua and each other.

Old Testament

Exodus 20:6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Deuteronomy 5:10 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

Deuteronomy 7:9 [Yahuwah] keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

Deuteronomy 11:1 Therefore thou shalt love Yahuwah, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway.

Nehemiah 1:5 [Yahuwah] keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:

Daniel 9:4 [Yahuwah] keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;

New Testament

John 14:15 [Yahushua] If ye love me, keep my commandments.

John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

1 John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of Yahuwah, when we love Yahuwah, and keep his commandments

This also awaits the keepers of Torah:

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Isaiah 66:22-24 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith Yahuwah, so shall your seed and your name remain. 23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith Yahuwah.
