Genesis 1:26 (Part #4)

8. Yahushua on Genesis 1:26

Let the reader honestly regard the comments of Yahushua:

But from the beginning of creation, G-d made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother, and the two shall become one flesh; so they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore G-d has joined together, let no man separate." Mark 10:6-9.

Shall we suppose Yahushua was referring to a Triune G-d? Or shall we suppose he was referring to his G-d? Would any reasonable person honestly suppose Yahushua really meant the following?

But from the beginning of creation, We made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother, and the two shall become one flesh; so they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore We have joined together, let no man separate."

Analysis of the Facts

1. The Bible tells us this is the FATHER

The Bible tells us that man was made in the likeness of G-d THE FATHER.

With [our tongue] we bless our G-d and Father, and with it we curse men who are made in the likeness of G-d. James 3:9

And again, the following passage is necessarily referring to man being made in the image of G-d the ?Father, the Head of Christ.

I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and G-d is the head of Christ. .... For a man ought not to have his head covered, since he is the image and glory of G-d but the woman is the glory of man. 1 Corinthians 11:3-7

These passages show us that man was made in the image of G-d the Father. And is not the man Yahushua, the second Adam, made in the image of G-d our Father? And does it not say that we who believe will bear that same image?

[The Risen Yahushua] So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul.” The last Adam life-giving spirit. However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural then the spiritual. The first man is from the earth, earthly; the second man is of heaven. As is the earthly, so also are those who are earthly and as is the heavenly, so also are those who are heavenly. Just as we have borne the image of the earthy, we will also bear the image of the heavenly. 1 Corinthians 15:45-49

2. They are "ADAM"

An examination of the facts shows that Trinitarian interpreters are disregarding the contextual facts provided to them. The image of "US" is given to us in this very passage: "THEM". Male and female He created them. "Them" is the image of "Us."

At Genesis 5:2, we are told that G-d called them "ADAM," both male and female.

In the day G-d created ADAM, He made him in the likeness of G-d. He created them male and female, and He blessed them and called their name ADAM in the day they were created. (Genesis 5:1-2).

We find the very same thing at Genesis 1:26.

And Elohim said, "Let us make ADAM in our image, according to our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the beasts and over all the earth, and over every moving thing that moves upon the earth." And Elohim created the ADAM in His own image, in the image of Elohim He created him, male and female He created them. And Elohim He blessed them and Elohim He said, "YOU (plural) be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the heavens and over all life that moves upon the earth.... I give to YOU (plural)..."

When interpreting Genesis 1:26, it is important to recognize that ADAM is not just a "He" but also a "they" and "them." It is also important to recognize that no one then supposes ADAM is a multi-personal being.
