4 Simple Steps to Increase Your Faith!

The King James Version (KJV) is mostly used in these lessons. Click here to access the KJV online.

Faith is the hand that grasps the promises of Yah, bringing Heaven’s greatest blessings to the humble believer.

The superiority of Christianity to all other religions is that it presents a God on bended knee, extending a hand to help, speaking in soft, loving tones, wooing His enemies with kindness, doing whatever needs to be done to save those He loves—those who hate Him in return. Everything necessary for our salvation is available to us as a gift of divine grace. Our part is to accept it by faith.

Both salvation and victory in Yahushua are dependent upon the exercise of faith. Therefore, it is in your best interests to learn how to increase your faith!

Faith is a gift!

Throughout the Saviour’s life on earth, he commended faith wherever he found it. “O, woman, great is thy faith,” he told the Syrophoenician woman before healing her daughter. After the Roman centurion told Yahushua that all he need do was “speak the word only” and his servant would be healed, Yahushua exclaimed, “I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.” (Matthew 8:10, KJV)

It is easy to assume that faith is some rare spiritual accomplishment, some people have attained while others haven’t. The truth is, though, that while faith is necessary to claim the promises of Yah, faith itself is a gift! Paul states unequivocally that Yahuwah “has dealt to each one a measure of faith.” (Romans 12:3, NKJV) If you want to increase your faith, the first thing to do is to pray and ask for more. Everyone has been given enough faith to believe that you will be given more, if you choose to believe.

1. Make the choice

Faith is a gift, but you have the free will to accept or reject it. Yah never forces His gifts on anyone. It is up to you to choose and when it comes to faith you must make a conscious choice to take Yah at His word.

Faith is not feeling! In fact, faith is what is needed when your feelings are at war with your convictions. The dictionary defines faith as:

Belief; the assent of the mind to the truth of what is declared by another, resting on his authority and veracity [habitual truthfulness], without other evidence; the judgement that what another states or testifies is the truth …

[Faith is] the assent of the mind to the truth of a proposition advanced by another.

[Faith is] the assent of the mind to the truth of divine revelation, on the authority of [Yah’s] testimony, accompanied with a cordial assent of the will or approbation of the heart; an entire confidence or trust in [Yah’s] character and doctrines of Christ, with an unreserved surrender of the will to his guidance, and dependence on his merits for salvation. In other words, that firm belief of [Yah’s] testimony, and of the truth of the gospel, which influences the will, and leads to an entire reliance on Christ for salvation.1

Faith is one step further than belief. Faith is the assent or agreement of the mind that what someone else is saying is indeed the truth without needing any other evidence. Such confidence only comes when you know and trust the other person. So, the next step to increasing your faith is to get to know Yahuwah for yourself.

2. One-on-one with Yah

When it comes to salvation, it’s not what you know but who you know. The psalmist invited: “O taste and see that Yahuwah is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.” (See Psalm 34:8.) The only way anyone can accept the word of Yah at face value, not needing any other evidence, is if he or she has gotten to know Him on a very personal, deeply intimate level.

If you want to increase your faith, make it a habit to start exercising faith on a daily basis. Search for a promise that fits your need and claim it! Pray very specifically. It has been said that faith is a plant that will grow quickly when nurtured. So, start nurturing it! The way you do that is by choosing to make it a daily habit to exercise faith.

3. Faith by immersion

The next way to increase your faith is startlingly simple but very effective: immerse yourself in the word of Yah. Paul told the Romans: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Yah.” (Romans 10:17, NKJV) The word of Yah contains supernatural power to accomplish what that word says.

For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It [My word] shall not return to Me void,
But it [My word] shall accomplish what I please,
And it [My word] shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:10 and 11, NKJV.)

When you immerse your mind in the promises of Yah, your faith will increase!

4. Be grateful!

Finally, make a point of noticing Yahuwah’s gifts, and then express appreciation for them. When you are aware of Yah’s presence in your life and the blessings He continuously bestows, love will be awakened in your heart. That love increases your confidence in His word, which then builds more faith.

You do not increase your faith by stirring up strong emotions in yourself through sheer grit and determination. Rather, faith is a natural outcome of a loving, close friendship with Yah as your best friend. “For in Yahushua Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.” (See Galatians 5:6.)

Faith is not something you earn, nor is it something you can ever achieve by the sweat of your brow and your own diligent effort. But by cooperating with Yah, aligning your will with His, you can be gifted with the very faith of Yahushua himself, and victories will be yours.

“For whatsoever is born of Yah overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” (See 1 John 5:4.)
