"Another beast is brought to view in Revelatin 13;11-18. This beast symbolizez the Nunited States. John saw it rising about the time that the first beast (the Papacy) was going into captivity in 1798. The beast is senn rising out of the earth. This is in contrast to all the other beast that were seen rising out of the sea of people and multitudes and nations ang tongues (Rev. 17;15). All of these beast arose int he densely populated regions of Europe and Asia. The U.S. arose in the new world of Americas, which was a wilderness continent. The beast has two horn like a lamb, indicating youth. The A.S. was only 22 years old in 1798. Horns in Bible prophecy indicate power. The power of U.S. is a result of its two founding principles; republicanism, which produced a nation without a king where the majority rule with respect for the civil rights of the majority, and Protestantism, which produced a nation without a pope, and the right to worship according to the dictates of ones own consciense. the principle of seperation of church and stae is the foundation of these two strengths of the American systyme. Unfortunately, the U.S. will repudiate these foundational principles and speak as a dragon (v.11). The U.S. will then begin to act like the first beast (the Papacy) of Revelation 14;12, compelling all to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound had healed. To enhance its authority, it will cause great miracles to take place which will deceive the whole earth (v.13). These miracles will convince the people that they should make an image to the beast and that this effort will have the blessing of God resting upon it. This image of the beast would be an entity functioning on the same principles as the beast (the Papacy). The primary principle would be the use of civil power to enforce and support religious dogma and institutions. This would be a direct violation of the principle of the seperation of church and stae. This will inevitably lead to persecution of those who will not comply with the supposed authority of the church-state union. The death penalty will enforced against all who will not worship the image (v.15). All will have to receive a mark i the right hand indicating expediency because of the circumtances or in their forehead indicating conversion. None will be permitted to buy or sell without the mark. The mark is a sign of allegiance that identifies the bearer as being loyal to and in harmony with the power represented by the beast (vv.16,17). The mark of the beast is the Sunday institution.Me. H.
